How much does a wedding celebrant charge?

Packages range from a full service Wedding Celebrant & MC Package at $1950, down to a small intimate Elopement Package for just 10 guests at $600.

What paperwork and evidence do we need to supply?

You will need to provide a copy of your Passport OR your birth certificate and driver's licence. If you have been married before, you will need to provide either your divorce certificate or, if your spouse has passed away, their death certificate.

What legal documentation is required?

You will lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) between one month and 18 months prior to your wedding date. Before the ceremony you sign a Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage. After the ceremony, you and two witnesses sign two copies of the Official Certificate of Marriage and a Form 15 Certificate of Marriage.

Will we be legally married on our wedding day?

Yes. Once you say your legal vows during the ceremony, you are legally married. The signing of the registry after the ceremony is the legal proof of your marriage.

How long are wedding ceremonies?

Accepted Answer

Most ceremonies are between 20 and 30 minutes. With 3 songs, the couple's love story, vows and rings it is generally 20 minutes. Adding rituals and readings can take it up to 30 minutes.

Do we pay the full fee upfront?

Accepted Answer

No. A $300 non-refundable booking fee is required upfront to lock in your date. The remaining balance is due 7 days prior to your ceremony.

Who can be our witnesses?

Accepted Answer

You need two witnesses to sign your wedding papers at the ceremony. The two witnesses can be any two adults over the age of 18, except the celebrant.

Do you travel for weddings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Based on the Gold Coast, Nuala regularly conducts weddings in Sydney and can legally conduct weddings in any Australian State or Territory. Travel fees apply outside a 25km radius from Varsity Lakes.

What happens if you are sick on our wedding day?

Accepted Answer

Nuala has a wide network of like-minded celebrant colleagues locally who are available to step in. All ceremonies are prepared in advance, so the legal paperwork and ceremony script can be transferred electronically to a replacement celebrant.

Question 10

Do we have to memorise our vows?

Accepted Answer

No. Vows are printed and presented in a professional Vow Book for you to read, or you can repeat each line after the celebrant. Legally only one sentence needs to be said word for word — the rest is entirely up to you.
